A note from the photographer:

It is indeed challenging to present nude photographs without inhibiting our universal growth towards oneness. This is because nudity has become primarily an expression supporting the dualistic paradigm- a paradigm in which we divide the world into 'us and them', 'me and you', and 'he and she'. However, the true nature of the universe is unity, which is love. Therefore, I ask that these photographs be viewed from a completely different perspective than the one which you would normally have when seeing the naked flesh: I ask that you, the viewer, attempt to rid yourself of the subject-object dichotomy, which creates 'seer and seen', 'witness and witnessed'. That is, I ask you, the viewer, to consider the following statement which was spoken to me in a lucid dream, and that statement was "All flesh is one flesh."

This is a simple statement, but it initiated a very profound awakening within me, because I began to be able to stop 'seeing' the world as if it was composed of a limitless number of 'separated' objects and individuals, and instead I began to 'feel' the unity underlying all flesh, all beings, and all matter. This sense of unity is an essential component in erasing the false perspective of 'self' and 'other', which is an essential step in finding unity not only in the spirit realm, but in the realm of the flesh as well.

These nude images are of Tanis, my twin-soul. A twin-soul is another manifestation of one's absolute existence, like when a tree forks into two seemingly separate trunks as it exits the ground, and yet remains undivided within the earth. Twin-souls are similarly two-that-are-one. Therefore, in the act of taking these pictures, I was actually photographing my other, manifested half; photographer and model are one. But then we, as twin-souls, are not separate from the rest of the universe, and therefore our twin-soulship is like the union of twigs which meet at a common branch on the great Tree of Life; we are a oneness within a greater oneness. All flesh is one flesh. There is no division. Amen.

1) THE TAO OF ETERNITY

      Excerpts from OM, BABY! a pilgrimage to the eternal self, by Jack Haas, alongside a few of the nude photos from HER: the sacred naked mother earth, and the divine feminine soul.

2) SEQUENCES OF THE ETERNAL NOW

     In eternity there is no time, there is only now, only now-time. It is our minds which fragment the eternal flowing now-moment into past and future. To return to eternity is to go nowhere- which has been called 'now here'- and therefore to enter the timeless presence of the present moment, which never ends, for there is but one eternity, and that eternity is now. Although, in the realm of time, the following images represent different moments, in the realm of eternity, they were all taken now. To view every moment as now, is to escape the wheel of time, and to enter the timeless now of eternity.

3) TRANSFIGURATION: DIGITALLY MODIFIED NUDE IMAGES

      Although aesthetically I prefer viewing nude and nature photos which are totally pure and unadultered by photoshop in any way- such as the photos in the book HER: the sacred naked mother earth, and the divine feminine soul, which remain untouched by photoshop or any other photo editing program- I include here a brief tour through some intentionally modified photos, in an attempt to show that the interaction of modern technology with the organic nature of film is symbolically similar to the transfiguration which the flesh undergoes as it unites completely with spirit. And although it is impossible to express this transfiguration visually- as it must be embodied in each individual- there is nevertheless merit in the recognition that as the flesh is transfigured, it takes on a new vibration, and is, in a sense, digitalized. The following images attempt to express that process.

4) YIN AND YANG

As with yin and yang- the Chinese symbol of wholeness- black and white photography is a method of narrowing down our divisive perceptions from an infinite, complex multitude into an obvious duality. It is this duality which is, in fact, the mysterious nature of the undivided One, the Tao. To become the one, we must also be two. Yin and yang, black and white. To see the one in the two is to unite the inner with the outer, the subject with the object, the viewer with the viewed. It is to be separated and yet dissolved into the whole. Which is to be neither yin nor yang, but both. Black and white photography is of the nature of the Tao, which is sublime. To recognize no difference between the model and the surroundings, is to begin to see the One.      

5)  THE FLESH DIVINE

      A number of cropped nude images in which the background scenery is minimized and the color is digitally enhanced so as to magnify the beauty and divinity of the flesh itself.
